Hundreds of youth, workers, and climate-affected communities gathered in Dhaka in solidarity with COP30, raising urgent calls for #JustTransitionNow.
The strike, organized by Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), YouthNet Global , National Alliance for Just Transition Bangladesh (NAJTB), and Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies-BILS brought together young people, labour groups, climate activists, and frontline community representatives.
Participants demanded a renewable-energy-based revision of Bangladesh’s fossil-fuel-heavy Integrated Energy and Power Master Plan (IEPMP), along with a fast, fair, and adequately funded Just Transition. They urged the government to guarantee workers’ rights, expand social protection, strengthen adaptation measures, operationalize Loss & Damage finance, and ensure meaningful participation of youth, workers, and frontline communities in climate decision-making.
Rejecting profit-driven false solutions, demonstrators emphasized that Bangladesh needs a people-centered, equitable, and renewable energy future that protects both people and the planet.
